Hoosier jars were made by a number of companies (Sellers,
Hoosier, Owens, etc ) in the 1920's and 1930's. Some were designed
specifically to be used in your Hoosier Cabinet and others were made to be used
either in the cabinet or elsewhere in your kitchen. Today they are a great
vintage way to store flour, sugar, coffee, tea, and spices nice and fresh and in
a charming way! They also make a great gift packed with your favorite nuts
or candies or homemade mixes for cocoa or baked goods. NOTE: We only stock
original hoosier jars. This old glass will typically have some small air bubbles
and "glass hairs" (ie little lines in the glass from a little dust or
undissolved glass)

SHAKERS
Spice jars where usually made in a 4 1/2" to 4 3/4" tall
size with closed
lids to keep the spices and herbs fresh. We do have some shaker tops that came
on these jars so ask if you need that variety. Some of the spice and herb
jars had a glass
ring about half way down the jar. This was so that they would sit in a wire rack inside
the Hoosier Cabinet that had loops. Only a couple of styles were made with the ring and
we try to offer them when we can. ALL our Hoosier jars are original
depression glass /1920's glass and have original lids.

These are part of a 4 pc nested measure set you can collect consisting of

1 mayonnaise beater jar, great Art Deco design with bubbles (balls) of differing
sizes going up the jar in 4 places, useful for beating an egg or other sauces as
well as salad dressing, dates from before bottled dressings were sold, 4 3/4"
tall and jar is 4" wide, metal lid and wooden knob are both the old jadite
green, there are some spots of missing paint on the metal lid but I am leaving
it in vintage condition but you could easily repaint it to match your kitchen
